White Noise has good sounds
Carolyn Cooke
You never know, you may like White Noise a lot more than you thought.
The three-piece hard rock outfit will be performing in White Rock over the long weekend with the goal of introducing the band's debut album and also collecting canned food for the South Surrey/White Rock Food Bank.
"It's really one of the projects I'm most excited about that I've played in, in a long time actually," said Jovan.
"It's got something cool about it."
Songs from Listen, White Noise's first full-length recording, can be heard on CFOX's six o'clock rock report and is garnering the band support from the station. Danger will be on hand at the upcoming CD release party to emcee and possibly hand out a few prizes.
Drummer Jovan hooked up Derek Reeder, singer and bassist, and Graham MacPherson, the guitarist to do some studio work, and later the project turned into a viable new act. Listen is produced by Tim Neuhaus, who also worked with State of Shock.
Jovan said they have all been playing professionally for about 10 years but have only recently worked together, in spite of Reeder being a classmate of his years earlier.
White Noise opened for Bif Naked at the Croatian Cultural Centre as part of the Supernova MuSick series, where the band placed second out of 25 bands in the competition and Jovan was given the top drummer honours.
White Noise will perform for family and local friends at the Ocean Beach Hotel, 14995 Marine Dr., on Sunday, May 22 at 9 p.m. Admission is a donation of canned food. The band will play all 13 songs from Listen.
The official CD release party is at The Red Room in Vancouver on May 28 at 9 p.m. For more, see www.thisiswhitenoise.com.
